The best spellers in the Eastern Heartland have emerged at the Imo State Level Competition of the Nigeria Spelling Bee.

The competition was conducted on the 25th of February 2022 at Christian International High School Owerri, which played host to the statewide contest.

After more than nine challenging rounds of spelling, Anyadiegwu Benita Munachi of Charles Heerey Memorial Juniorate Urualla Ideato North emerged as the Best Junior Speller while Zara Onyelike of Christian Int’l High School Owerri clinched the Best Senior Speller slot.

These spellers will progress to represent the state at the National Finals of the Nigeria Spelling Bee slated for the 3rd-7th of August 2022 where they stand a chance to win up to N1,000,000 / N500,000 scholarships for Senior and Junior categories respectively.

National Finalists also have an opportunity to represent Nigeria at the African Spelling Bee continental competition in Malawi.

The Junior Runner-up at the event is Samuel Ufort Emmanual of Christian Int’l High School.

We want to appreciate all parents, coaches and schools who availed themselves to make the contest a memorable one for the spellers.

Our deepest appreciation also goes to the host school, Christian International High School.
