The best spellers in “The People’s Paradise” have emerged at the Cross River State Level Competition of the Nigeria Spelling Bee.

The competition was conducted on the 1st of March 2022 at Deeper Life High School Calabar Campus, which played host to the statewide contest.

At the conclusion of the day’s contest, Onyeoghanai Iyamu of Deeper Life High Calabar Campus emerged the Best Junior Speller while Favour Asagha of Clemo High School Calabar clinched the Best Senior Speller slot.

These spellers will progress to represent the state at the National Finals of the Nigeria Spelling Bee slated for the 3rd-7th of August 2022 at Divine Rays British Schools Obosi-Onitsha, where they stand a chance to win up to N1,000,000 / N500,000 scholarships for Senior and Junior Categories respectively.

National Finalists also have an opportunity to represent Nigeria at the African Spelling Bee continental competition in Malawi.
