The Benue State Qualifier was enough to I-N-V-I-G-O-R-A-T-E spellers to new energy on the 4th of November 2017.

Spellers across the state met to compete for a chance to be among the champions that will represent Benue State in the Nigeria Spelling Bee at the North Central regional level of the competition.

These spellers stand a chance to emerge National Champions in the National Finals of the Nigeria Spelling Bee and win up to One Million Naira scholarship; and to also represent Nigeria at the 2018 Edition of the of African Spelling Bee.

After 5 rounds of spelling, 5 spellers emerged to represent Benue State at the Regional Qualifier. These include:

  • Mimi Elen Swem (569) of Princess Adeja Int’l College, Gboko
  • Nweze Blossom (732) of Recons Int’l School, Makurdi
  • Ogbobe Chidera Stephanie (733) of Recons Int’l School, Makurdi
  • Briggs Okorite (736) of Princess Adeja Int’l College, Gboko
  • Alu Evelyn Erdoo (741) of Queen of the Rosary Sec. Sch., Gboko

These spellers will compete alongside spellers from other North-Central states including Abuja for a chance to emerge Finalists at the National Level.
