The “Pride of the Sahel” -Yobe State- has produced its Best State Spellers at the Nigeria Spelling Bee Yobe State Level contest.

The competition was conducted on the 21st of March 2022 at the Nigerian Tulip International Colleges (NTIC) Yobe which played host to the statewide contest.

At the conclusion of the day’s contest, Ahmad Mala Kachalla of Nigerian Tulip International College Yobe emerged as the Best Junior Speller. At the same time, Fatima Ali Abubakar of Nigerian Tulip International College Yobe clinched the Best Senior Speller slot.

These spellers will progress to represent the state at the National Finals of the Nigeria Spelling Bee slated for the 3rd-7th of August 2022 at Divine Rays British Schools Obosi-Onitsha, where they stand a chance to win up to N1,000,000 / N500,000 scholarships for Senior and Junior categories respectively.

National Finalists also have an opportunity to represent Nigeria at the African Spelling Bee continental competition in Malawi.
