The second batch of National Finalists has just emerged for the 2021 Season of the Nigeria Spelling Bee.  These emerged at the Southwest Regional Level Competition held at Ibefun, Ogun State.

The competition which was hosted at International College Ibefun was graced by the very best spellers from Lagos, Ogun, Osun, Ekiti, Info and Oyo States who all did their very best to emerge as the Finalists to represent the region.

In addition to the One Million Naira and Five Hundred Thousand Naira scholarship for the National Senior and Junior Champions, National Finalists also stand to represent Nigeria at the African Spelling Bee and also win other prizes.

At the end of both written and oral contests, the below-listed spellers emerged as the best spellers in the South-West.

  • Oluwatoni Ajakaye of Deeper Life High School Akure Campus, Ondo State
  • Peace Fadero of Mayflower School(JSS) Ikenne Remo, Ogun State
  • Rebecca Adebayo of Greater Tomorrow International College, Ondo State
  • Tumilara Oresanya of Mayflower School(JSS) Ikenne Remo, Ogun State

SENIORS

  • Abdraheem Sheriff of King’s College, Lagos, Lagos State
  • Esther Ogunleye of Saint Lawrence Metro College, Ekiti State
  • Ismail Gbadebo of The Selected Preparatory Career College Tollgate Ibadan, Oyo State
  • Marvel Okache of Greater Tomorrow International College, Ondo State
  • Prince Donatus of Royal Star Comprehensive College, Lagos State

These spellers will compete alongside other top spellers from the South-South, South-East, North-Central, North-East and North-West regions of the country at the National Finals.

The organizers express deep appreciation to International College Ibefun for hosting the Regional Qualifiers, including providing accommodation for contestants.
