Spellers across Osun State converged at Joseph Ayo Babalola University (JABU) for the Osun State Qualifier of Nigeria Spelling Bee held on Saturday the 17th of February 2018.

The event saw some great spellers who proved to be the best in the state and capable of representing their state in the next stage of the competition.

After 5 rounds of the contest, the below spellers emerged as the representatives of Osun for the South-West regional level.

  • Oluwole-Ojo Oluwagbemi (1080) of JABU International School
  • Asaolu Gbemisola Testimony (1422) of Henry Alex-Duduyemi Memorial College
  • Oladele Mary Oluwaseun (1606) of Excellent Comprehensive Model College Osogbo
  • Ayandiran Mubarak Bolaji (1705) of Adrem Model Academy, Apomu
  • Adeboye Abdulsamad Korede (1890) of Roseful International High School, Osogbo
  • Amos Fathia Temidayo (1891) of Roseful International High School, Osogbo
  • Adediran Fawaz (1903) of Roseful International High School, Osogbo
  • Akinjogbin Rhoda D. (1905) of Roseful International High School Osogbo

These spellers will compete alongside spellers from other South-West states of Nigeria at the Regional Competition for a chance to emerge National Finalists who will have a chance to win the grand prize of One Million Naira Scholarship.

National champions will represent Nigeria at the 2018 African Spelling Bee in Mombasa – Kenya.
