It was an exciting sight as the best spellers in the North East Geopolitical zone of Nigeria converged at the Jewel of the Savannah (Gombe State) for the North East Regional Qualifiers of the Nigeria Spelling Bee.

The competition which was hosted at Metrix International Academy Gombe was attended by the various top spellers from Gombe, Adamawa, Taraba, Bauchi, Yobe and Borno States who all came to lay claim for a chance to represent the Region at the National Finals.

In addition to the One Million Naira and Five Hundred Thousand Naira scholarship for the National Senior and Junior Champions, National Finalists also stand to represent Nigeria at the African Spelling Bee and also win other exciting prizes.

At the end of both written and oral contests, the below-listed spellers emerged as the best spellers in the North-East geopolitical zone.

  • Emmanuella Jones of Yahaya Ahmad Model School, Gombe
  • Goodness Gambo of Our Lady of Consolation Girls Secondary School, Jalingo
  • Princess-Praise C Amadi of Deeper Life High School Jalingo

SENIORS

  • Farida Bala of Matrix International Academy, Gombe
  • Fatima Ali Abubakar of Nigerian Tulip International College, Potiskum
  • Joan Clement of Our Lady of Consolation Girls Secondary School, Jalingo
  • Maryam Shuaib Yakub of Federal Government College Maiduguri
  • Mordecai E Amaike of Federal Government College Maiduguri
  • Shittu Shuaibu of Yahaya Ahmad Model School, Gombe

These spellers will compete alongside other top spellers from the South-West, South-East, South-South, North Central and North-West regions of the country at the National Finals.
