The Nigeria Spelling Bee team was in the “Glory of all Lands” for the Bayelsa State Level Qualifier of the competition which was aimed at producing the best spelling bee champs in the state who will go on to represent the state at subsequent rounds.

After some exciting rounds of showing their spelling prowess, these spellers made it as the top spellers in Bayelsa State:

JUNIORS:

  • Angel Nikade of Deeper Life High School, Yenagoa Campus
  • Robert Nadhioni of Hansal International School, Yenagoa
  • Obembe Eyitayo David of Deeper Life High School, Yenagoa Campus
  • Umeasiegbu Charis of Hansal International School, Yenagoa
  • Ogede Presley of Deeper Life High School, Yenagoa Campus
  • Okwuolise Precious Ogheneoruese of Deeper Life High School, Delta Campus
  • Oladapo Blossom of Deeper Life High School, Yenagoa Campus
  • Osiohwo Precious Oghenekevwe of Deeper Life High School, Delta Campus

SENIORS:

  • Anderson Yenimi of Hansal International School, Yenagoa
  • Ovuru Miedou of New Total Child Academy, Yenagoa
  • Ovuru Nadou of New Total Child Academy, Yenagoa

Both junior and senior top Spellers will go on to represent Bayelsa at the South-South Regional Qualifier, facing Spellers from 5 other states such as Cross River, Akwa-Ibom, Delta, Edo and Rivers State.

At the national finals, these Spellers will have an opportunity to win a ₦1,000,000 scholarship (Snr) or a ₦100,000 cash prize (Jnr) among other exciting prizes.
The 6 national champions will also win an all-expenses-paid trip to represent Nigeria at the African Spelling Bee 2019 in Uganda.
