It was an exciting contest at the Bayelsa State Qualifiers of the Nigeria Spelling Bee as the competition ran into the 8th Round while on our quest to get the best spellers.

Spellers converged to prove their spelling worth, and the below spellers emerged victorious:

  • Treasure Austine (1756) of Rev. Protor Memorial School Kaiama
  • Charis Umeasiegbu (1769) of Hansal International School, Yenagoa
  • Martin Chimuanya Kingsley (1920) of New Total Child Academy, Yenagoa
  • Alagoa Tari (1921) of Ala Montessori High School, Ekeki Yenagoa
  • Nikade Angel Oyinpreye (1936) of Deeper Life High School
  • Woyengi Nadou Ovuru (1982) of New Total Child Academy, Yenagoa
  • Warifinowei John Ekimobowei (1980) of New Total Child Academy, Yenagoa
  • Bite-Braah Favour (2004) of AyakpoComprehensive College, Yenagoa

These spellers will compete alongside other state champions from the South-South zone of the country such as Rivers, Akwa-Ibom, Cross-River and Delta states for the chance to be one of the National Finalists who can win the Grand Prize of N1,000,000 and represent Nigeria at the African Spelling Bee in Mombasa Kenya.
