It was an amazing and exciting event at the South-West Regional Competition of the Nigeria Spelling Bee which held on Children’s Day  (27th May) in Ogun. 44 top spellers from across the South West States of Ekiti, Lagos, Ondo, Ogun, Osun and Oyo  competed and the event.

The event  witnessed large turnout as fellow students and other well-wishers joined the coaches, teachers and parents to cheer the spellers to victory.

At the end of four amazing rounds, 6 spellers emerged as the National Finalists to represent the South-West Region of Nigeria. This spellers include: Akinola A. Eniola (88) of FourSquare International Secondary School, Abeokuta; Elegbede O. Kehinde (92) of Iganmode Grammar School Snr. Ogun; Nwokedi-Albert Chiamaka (102) of Good Shepherd Comprehensive School Lagos; Omohwovo Uyota (112) of King’s College Lagos; Oyindamola E. Falade (114) of Army Children Senior High School, Lagos; and Sheriff Mohammed (120) of King’s College Lagos.

These spellers will compete alongside other National Finalists from all the geo-political regions of Nigeria for a chance to be the Nigeria Spelling Bee Champion and win N1,000,000 in Scholarship. Six top spellers at the National will also represent Nigeria at the African Spelling Bee in Mombasa, Kenya later this year.

We want to appreciate our host school, The Ambassador’s College, Ota for successfully hosting the South West Regional Competition.
