The Nigeria Spelling Bee South-South Regional Level of the competition was well contested between a total of 42 spellers representing States that make up the South-South geo-political zone of Nigeria such as Rivers, Delta, Edo, Bayelsa, Cross-Rivers and Akwa-Ibom. The competition held on the 20th of May in Port Harcourt.

At a end of six exciting rounds of the contest, Nnaemeka C. Jeremiah (65) of Deeper Life High School, Port-Harcourt Campus emerged the South-South Regional Best Speller.

Jeremiah along side four other spellers (Akinmusire A. Honour (41), Chindah C. Adachi (47), Nchege B. Ifeanyichukwu (64) and Okachi Anita (68)), coincidentally from Deeper Life High School will represent the South-South Region at the National Finals.

Each speller received a satchel containing study materials for the national finals.

These spellers will compete to be the Nigeria Spelling Bee Champion. The National Winner will win scholarship award worth One Million Naira and a chance to represent Nigeria at the African Spelling Bee competition in Kenya in July along side other top five spellers.
