Spellers across Plateau State converged at the Plateau State Qualifier of the Nigeria Spelling Bee to compete for a chance to emerge as top spellers and represent Plateau State in the Nigeria Spelling Bee.

Spellers who will make it to the National Finals stand a chance to win up to One Million Naira scholarship and to represent Nigeria at the African Spelling Bee 2018.After rounds of spelling which included Nigeria’s major indigenous languages (Non-Elimination Round), 7 spellers emerged. These include:

  • Ibrahim Ishaku (720) of Government Secondary School, Giring, Jos
  • Nanmak Bolchit Bali (729) of Delight Academy & Special Needs Services, Jos
  • Myalshak Domle Tobias (730) of Delight Academy & Special Needs Services, Jos
  • Aisha Nasirudden Hamza (804) of Hikma International School, Jos
  • Judith Ooja Omepa (818) of COCIN Secondary School, Dadin-Kowa
  • Joshua Caleb (820) of Christ The Redeemers’s College, Jos
  • Ogbanje Benedict (824) of Christ The Redeemer’s College, Jos

These spellers will compete alongside spellers from other North-Central states including Abuja for a chance to emerge Finalists at the National Level.
