It was an exciting day at Igbinedion Education Centre as Students in Edo State gathered to showcase their spelling prowess and prove to be the best spellers who will represent the State in the regional and National finals of the Nigeria Spelling Bee.

After rounds of spelling, the below spellers proved to be worthy to represent Edo state.

  • Osahon Ize-Iyamu (603) of Igbinedion Education Centre, Benin City
  • Catherine Ebikpoja (699) of Deeper Life High School, Benin Campus
  • Kayode Binite (704) of Deeper Life High School, Benin Campus
  • Dorlin Onemolease (706) of Deeper Life High School, Benin Campus
  • Oluwalana Adekambi (708) of Deeper Life High School, Benin Campus
  • Nosakhare H. Etua-Orobor (714) of Cephas Fountain High School Benin
  • Ehidiamen G. Omokhoa (1939) of Cradle Bridge Schools, Warri, Delta

These spellers will represent Edo State alongside other qualifiers from South-South states such as Bayelsa, Rivers, Delta, Cross-River and Akwa-Ibom States.

Making it to the Regional means they will be competition for a chance to be one of the National Finalists who stands to win One Million Naira grand prize in scholarship and represent Nigeria in the 2018 edition of the African Spelling Bee in Mombasa alongside 5 other spellers.

We will like to extend our deepest gratitude to all participating schools and spellers for the training and hard work they have all put in preparations for the bee.

Our appreciation also goes to the staff and management of Igbinedion Education Centre, Benin City for Hosting the Edo State Qualifier of the Nigeria Spelling Bee 2018 Season.
